Top Trends at Pitti Uomo 109

A round-up of the best street style trends from the January 2026 edition of Pitti Uomo.

By: Harry Rosen Staff

Pitti Uomo is a biannual fixture circled in every menswear afficionado’s calendar. While technically a trade show, initially designed as a place for industry professionals to meet, present, procure, and preview what’s to come over future seasons, it’s evolved into a fashion culture phenomenon far greater than the sum of its parts.

Pitti Uomo serves as a global meeting ground where friends, influencers, fashion moguls, merchants, and the who’s who of menswear to converge — not just for business, but to connect, celebrate, and most importantly, get a few ‘fits off in front of the many cameras eager to snap up the year’s most anticipated street style.

As always, Montréal’s very own Marc Richardson (@shooting.people) was there to capture the best looks over the four-day event, which we’ve distilled down into five main trends.

Heritage Patterned Outerwear

The statement coats and jackets at Pitti felt pleasantly familiar this season. From checks and stripes to houndstooth, herringbone, and beyond, heritage patterns triumphed across the backs of bold, impressive overcoats — a knowing nod to menswear tradition among those who appreciate it most.

Corduroy

Corduroy makes perfect sense in winter; its rich, lush nap is not only incredibly soft to the touch, but its characteristic ridges (or “wales”) are designed to trap air, creating an insulating layer that retains body heat. From trousers and waistcoats to full suits, corduroy definitely got its flowers in Florence this season.

Tweed and Checked Sport Jackets

Historically reserved for country — not city — wear, these sport jackets are a hearty and hard-wearing heritage style ideal for the colder months. Their distinctive weaves add remarkable depth of colour, texture, and visual interest, and thanks to tweeds and checks’ ability to pick up and harmonize with multiple tones and shades, incorporating them into a classic winter outfit is almost effortless.

Intricate Neckwear

In the winter months, covering your neck is both practical and stylish — whether with a scarf or a necktie, it’s an easy way to introduce an extra splash of colour, pattern, and visual interest to an outfit. This edition of Pitti showed us that ties aren’t just back this season, they’re better than ever. Scarves, meanwhile, were tastefully richly and vibrant, breaking up a sea of navies and greys with intricate, ornate patterns irresistible to the eye.

Fair Isle

This season marked the firm return to form of one of menswear’s most beloved sweater vests: the much-adored Fair Isle print. Quirky? Somewhat. Charming? Absolutely. Practical? Oh, you bet. A Fair Isle sweater vest is the perfect layering piece for colder days — think of it as the human equivalent of a tea cozy.
